Multimedia wizzard Richard Koci Hernandez produced a really nice video and story for CNN about how using a device such an iPhone with Instagram can make a change in your photographic expression. Hernandez is very prolific with the use of new technology and workflows and his Instagram images have gotten a lot of love on the web and in the media, even in the New York Times’ Lens blog. I’m pretty ambivalent about Instagram and other comparable apps to enhance a photographic workflow but I found the article that Hernandez wrote very worthwhile reading and the video he produced is simply beautiful.
At the end of the day all that matters is that you feel comfortable with the gear and process you chose and that you focus on creating beautiful work. The message I took away from this is that gear doesn’t matter.
